Why See a Prosthodontist?

Prosthodontics is one of the nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association. This area focuses on the replacement of teeth and/or oral structures to improve the appearance and function of your smile.  Many times, oral health has been affected by cavities, gum disease, wear, tooth loss, congenital or developmental defects, and other factors. Prosthodontics includes expert diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation, and maintenance of your smile’s function, appearance, health, and comfort.

A Prosthodontist has three additional years of specialty training after completing dental school. Prosthodontists are considered the “quarterback” of the dental treatment plan. They regularly lead teams of general dentists, specialists, and other health professionals to develop solutions for your dental needs. Dr. Cunningham went on to get board certified by the American Board of Prosthodontics, a long, arduous process making him one of 1,200 board certified Prosthodontists in the world!
